Welcome to Carle Foundation Hospital’s Pediatrics Department!
When it comes to caring for children, the details matter. That’s why Carle designed our new pediatrics unit with children in mind. In our new state-of-the-art facility, you’ll not only find the most advanced treatments, but also a staff specially trained to treat your child’s physical and emotional needs.
Since treatments can be scary for children, we offer a variety of pain-minimizing and distraction techniques, as well as plenty of opportunities for fun. Your child will enjoy a well-stocked playroom/teen room, as well as a TV, DVD player and Playstation 2 console located in each room. We also have child life specialists on staff who are dedicated to the emotional well-being of your child.
In addition, we encourage families to take an active role in their loved one’s recovery and work hard to accommodate you. In each of our new, private rooms, you’ll discover a private bathroom, a fold-away bed and other amenities designed for the convenience of you and your family. We also offer a family lounge and respite room where you can relax while staying close to your child.
Focused on the Family
Family plays an important role in a child’s recovery. Research has shown that young patients feel better in the company of their loved ones. At Carle Foundation Hospital, we strive to include parents and siblings in the care of our patients and value their input. Our policies and services are geared to making family members comfortable during their stay.
By providing us with feedback, you can help us improve the care we give your child and other patients. We have established the Pediatric Family Advisory Board, a committee made up of staff, patients and families to help us identify areas for improvement and possible solutions. Please inquire with any of the staff if you are interested in helping us in our journey to create a closer relationship with our patients and their families.
