Cardiac Rehabilitation

Every year, close to one million people survive heart attacks in the United States, and many more are diagnosed with some form of cardiovascular disease. Both the American Heart Association® and American College of Cardiology recommend cardiac rehabilitation for those with heart problems or those at risk.

A medically supervised exercise and education program, cardiac rehabilitation provides many benefits, including a reduced risk of rehospitalization or sudden cardiac death, less need for cardiac medications, and a faster return to normal activities.

At the Carle Heart and Vascular Institute, we offer a comprehensive cardiac rehabilitation program that will not only significantly reduce your risk of heart disease or recurrence, it can help you feel better than ever before. Our program is individually designed to help you regain your strength, prevent your condition from worsening or reduce your risk of future heart problems. Working in tandem with your cardiologist, primary care physician or cardiac surgeon every step of the way, our exercise physiologists develop a comprehensive, phased program tailored to your individual needs - with a goal to have you to return to the highest level of function and independence possible while improving the overall quality of your life - physically and emotionally.

If you have had a heart attack, heart surgery, an established coronary artery disease or are working proactively to lower your risk of future heart problems, talk with your doctor about a referral to the Carle Heart and Vascular Institute's cardiac rehabilitation program.
