13 Nurses from CarleFoundation Hospital's Pediatric Department Receive Certification in Pediatric Nursing
Carle FoundationHospital's pediatricdepartment received a boost recently when thirteen pediatric nurses earned thecredential of Certified Pediatric Nurse (CPN). These nurses successfullycompleted the rigorous Certified Pediatric Nurse Exam developed andadministered by the Pediatric Nursing Certification Board, the leadingcertification organization for pediatric nursing.
With a total of fourteen nurses whoare now Certified Pediatric Nurses (including one who was previouslycertified), Carle has a higher percentage of certified nursing staff than most children'sspecialty hospitals in the United States.
Certification recognizes a nurse'scommitment to professional development. It is an objective, measurable way of acknowledging the achievement ofspecialty knowledge beyond basic nursing preparation and RN licensure.
According to Jonathan Woods,pediatric nursing manager, this news demonstrates Carle's commitment to nursingexcellence. "We have always sought to provide the best possible care to ourpediatric patients," says Woods, "And with an industry-leading percentage ofcertified nurses, we are perfectly placed to achieve this goal."
The national examinations forpediatric nurse practitioners and pediatric nurses are unique in that they arethe only certification exams collaboratively designed by Certified PediatricNurses, Certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioners, and pediatricians.
