About this event

This support group provides a place to connect with others who are also going through loss, share memories of the person who died, learn about the grief process, and explore new ideas to help you cope and heal. We use Alan Wolfelt’s book Understanding Your Grief as a guide to our discussion.

The group is open to all grieving adults in the community who have experienced a loss through death and led by a trained facilitator. Participants will need to have attended a session of the Introduction to Grief group.

Call (217) 383-3151 or email with questions and for a link to attend the Zoom events. Short term one-to-one grief support is also available.

Weekly topics include:

  • Grieving and the importance of taking care of you
  • The uniqueness of your grief
  • Feelings and resources for getting more help
  • How routine, ritual and spirituality help as you cope with grief
  • Your identity after the death of your loved one
