Job Description

JOB SUMMARY:
The Respiratory Therapy Coordinator is responsible for operation of The Pulmonary Rehabilitation Program through planning, leading and organizing. Supports the mission, vision and philosophy of the organization.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's Degree in Respiratory Therapy, Health Safety or Healthcare Management

CERTIFICATION & LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS
Respiratory Care Practitioner License Illinois upon hire and Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Three (3) years Healthcare/Medical - Respiratory Therapy (RRT & CRTT) or Three (3) years Healthcare/Medical - Nurse: Registered Nurse

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE
Demonstrated clinical and managerial leadership skills in directing and supporting respiratory Care Personnel. Capacity to create a culture of clinical excellence and customer service. Demonstrates knowledge of computerized business applications.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Assesses and problem solves using information systems and process to promote desired patient, professional and organizational outcomes. Plans, implements and evaluates unit based quality improvement activities. Participates in hospital quality initiatives.
  • Provides input for budgetary planning and executing the plan for Pulmonary Rehabilitation. Indentifies, justifies and rectifies budget variances.
  • Functions as a role model Respiratory Therapist demonstrating competence in clinical judgement, select technical skills and appropriate knowledge base. Provides clinical direction to staff, evaluates the level of care provided. Ensures appropriate orientation and education to staff.
  • Remains aware of current Pulmonary Rehabilitation research, applies research findings and assists staff in participating in research.
  • Responsible for adjusting staff needs and appropriate care assignments.
  • Rehab therapist responsible for revenue cycle activities such as Point of Service Collection and registration.
  • Responsible must be able to perform for all the daily activities as the other Pulmonary Rehab Respiratory Therapists.
  • Assess new patients for eligibility into the Pulmonary Rehab Program.
  • Creates individual Plans of Care for Pulmonary Rehab patients
  • Provides education to pulmonary rehab patients
  • Monitors and reports monthly volumes
  • Assist with staff scheduling
  • Assist with capital Equipment evaluation
