Risk Factors

  • More common in people in their 50s-60s
  • More common in men than women
  • More common in African Americans
  • Exposure to chemicals such as herbicides and insecticides
  • Radiation exposure
  • Immune system deficiency
  • Autoimmune diseases
  • More common in people with AIDS virus
  • More common if overweight or obese
  • Family history

Screening

There is no routine preventive screening for lymphoma or leukemia. If symptoms are present, patients will undergo a biopsy to diagnose the type of lymphoma.
