Critical Access Hospitals (CAH) - like our facilities in Eureka, Hoopeston and Olney - are designed to improve access to healthcare and keep essential services in rural communities. As a CAH, each hospital must maintain access to 24/7 emergency care services provided by a qualified healthcare provider. Carle Health goes even further by providing board-certified emergency medicine specialists able to provide care for needs ranging from minor injury to life-threatening conditions like heart attack and stroke.
If a patient needs more advanced care for their illnesses or injuries, our teams can expedite a transfer via ground or air ambulance to one of our other are hospitals, including our Level I Trauma Center in Urbana and our Level II Trauma Centers in Normal and Peoria. Additionally, our CAH's are designated as Acute Stroke Ready Hospitals so they can evaluate and treat stroke patients before transferring them to a higher level of care.
*Eureka and Hoopeston facilities are not equipped with obstetric capabilities and patients will be stabilized and transferred as appropriate.
