Interventional Pain Clinic

The Carle Neuroscience Institute is home to a dedicate team of board-certified anesthesiologist that are specially trained to identify what's causing your pain and provide treatment that works. We offer a variety of non-surgical treatments to create the most effective plan for you, including a combination of medication, physical therapy, occupational therapy and counseling. Our specialists do not focus on pain as a chronic condition but emphasize the continuity of a well-managed care plan that keeps you on your feet.

The Interventional Pain physicians at the Carle Neuroscience Institute have experience treating all types of conditions and work together to determine the best treatment for your individual needs. The conditions include:

  • Spine-related pain, failed back syndrome, arachnoiditis
  • Chronic neuropathic pain, peripheral neuropathy, including plexopathy
  • Complex regional pain syndrome (RSD)
  • Chronic hip, knee, or shoulder pain or chronic extremity pain
  • Cervicogenic headache, occipital neuralgia
  • Post-thoracotomy pain syndrome, intercostal neuralgia
  • Osteoporotic compression fracture
  • Post-herpetic neuralgia (shingles)

The Interventional Pain physicians are fellowship trained in interventional pain medicine. Treatment options include:

  • Lumbar, cervical, and thoracic epidural steroid injection under fluoroscopic guidance
  • Spine-selective nerve block and transforaminal epiural steroid injection
  • Spine facet nerve block, facet joint injection, and Radiofrequency nerve ablation
  • Intracostal, peripheral, and sympathetic nerve blocks
  • Hip, knee, shoulder joint, and sacroiliac joint injection under fluoroscopy
  • Spinal cord stimulation
  • Intradiscal electrotherapy (IDET), chemical neurolytic block
  • Pharmacologic treatment
