Choosing Your Baby’s Provider
Choosing the right doctor for your baby is a very important decision – one that should not be considered lightly. After all, this person will care for your child for many years to come. Please be prepared to provide the name of your baby’s intended provider at the time of your admission for delivery. One of the best ways to choose a doctor is to talk to your family and friends and ask for recommendations. You can also call our pediatrics department or family practice department to schedule a brief meet and greet with a particular doctor to see if he or she meets your needs and shares your philosophy on childcare issues. Our Patient Advisory Services can also be a valuable resource. Call (217) 383-3233 to schedule an appointment or for advice and recommendations on a doctor for your baby.
Pediatricians are doctors who specialize in caring for infants, children and adolescents. To choose a Carle pediatrician, call the pediatrics department at the clinic of your choice. A receptionist can make an appointment for you to meet with one of our pediatricians prior to delivery. Each day you are in the hospital your baby will be seen by our pediatric hospitalists (doctors working in the hospital specialized in pediatric care).

Family medicine doctors care for people of all ages – from infants to the elderly. Many people prefer a family medicine doctor so their whole family can be cared for by the same doctor. To find out more about our family medicine doctors before you deliver, call the family medicine department at the clinic of your choice. Each day you are in the hospital your baby will be seen by the family medicine physicians or the pediatric hospitalists (doctors working in the hospital specialized in pediatric care).
