Carle Foundation Hospital and Carle Physician Group are proud to hold Magnet® designation, a national recognition for nursing excellence granted by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC). Carle first achieved Magnet designation in 2009 and was re-designated most recently in March 2019. We are celebrating our third Magnet designation for superior nursing care - a standard only 8 percent of hospitals in the United States meet.
More than 1,600 nurses practice in a variety of settings from inpatient to ambulatory to our health plan. Each is supported by transformational leaders who give them autonomy to find solutions, integrate with their care teams, pursue research and grow their careers. The positive work environment elevates our world-class patient care and creates positive outcomes.
In 2019, Carle cardiac medical surgical nurses received a prestigious national award, the Prism Award,” from the Academy of Medical-Surgical Nurses. Only 40 medical surgical units in the world have received this honor, which is based on quality patient care and medical excellence. And, the American Nursing Credentialing Center (ANCC) bestowed Pathway to Excellence Program® designation on Carle's east-regional facilities in 2018. ANCC Pathway to Excellence recognizes - on a national level - the world-class care Carle Hoopeston Health Center and the east region provides for patients every single day.
We encourage our nurses to grow their career through training and education by providing pre-paid tuition assistance. We also have a Clinical Nursing Ladder, a voluntary advancement program that recognizes and rewards nurses for their professional contributions. Carle also provides numerous leadership and engagement opportunities giving nurses the chance to grow and contribute.
Each year, Carle presents the Nurse Exemplar and Friends of Nursing program, a peer recognition program that celebrates nurses who demonstrate expertise, professionalism, mentoring, community service and passion.
