Carle is committed to educating and training future healthcare professionals and clinical staff. For students looking to gain experience at a Magnet®-designated facility, Carle has opportunities to match your track of study.
An internship provides practical experience related to a student’s degree. These internships are nonclinical and provide administrative experience in a hospital, clinic or office setting. Internships are unpaid and can meet credit requirements at local schools and colleges. Non-credit internships are considered volunteer opportunities.
Interested students must submit an application which indicates the program of study, applicable class requirements and contact information. To see current internship opportunities, search "internship" on our job board.
Applications will only be accepted during these dates each semester:
Students will need to ensure that their educational institution has the following information available upon Carle’s request:
An active affiliation agreement with the respective educational institution must be on file with the Carle Human Resources Department prior to student placement.
Applicants will be notified by Carle Human Resources, via email, if the student’s placement request can be fulfilled. An interview may be required prior to placement.

The Child Life Practicum is designed as an introductory experience for individuals interested in pursuing a career in child life. Through experiential learning and observation of Certified Child Life Specialists, child life practicum students begin to increase their knowledge of basic child life skills related to play, developmental assessment, and integration of child life theory into interventions with infants, children, youth and families.
Carle offers a psychiatric internship and a pre-doctoral internship in clinical psychology. Both programs offer hands-on experiences and training with field experts.
Interns can select from either adult, child/adolescent or generalist tracks.
