The first department moving to Carle Outpatient Services at The Fields – Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (OMFS) – opens at the new location Monday, April 8. OMFS is relocating from its Champaign on Kirby location and will continue to see patients in the North Clinic office in Urbana.
Patients, family and employees will benefit.
“Carle established the Outpatient Services building to foster even better collaboration for our specialty and surgical departments and offer added accessibility for the community and the region,” said Caleb Miller, Carle senior vice president of Surgical Services.
The rest of the departments joining the Champaign Surgery Center, which opened in February, and the Administration Building on The Fields campus, which opened in early 2018, will transition on a rolling basis in the coming weeks.
The following departments are scheduled to open at Carle at The Fields in the southwest Champaign medical campus.
- Plastic Surgery – Monday, April 15
- Optometry, Optical Retail and Ophthalmology – Monday, April 29
- General Surgery and Bariatric Surgery – Monday, May 6
- Ear, Nose & Throat, Audiology and Hearing Services – Monday, May 20
The new medical office building, complete with ample parking and a growing roster of restaurant and retail amenities nearby, is already a pleaser for employees who’ve been helping with the move.
“Our department outgrew our current space years ago and has been long awaiting this transition. The new facility and additional space will allow us the ability to update our workflows for improved patient access, quality of care and efficiency,” Ophthalmology Patient Care Manager Kelly Kurtenbach said.
Carle departments are communicating about the moves to patients and their families in a number ways, including letters, appointment cards and reminders by phone.
