Breast Imaging Nurse Navigator
Our Breast Imaging Nurse Navigator is a registered nurse and certified breast patient navigator in imaging with knowledge and expertise in breast pathology. Following an initial mammogram, if a diagnostic mammogram is needed to further evaluate breast tissue or changes in the breast, she assists with:

  • Bridging the gap between mammograms, biopsies and breast cancer diagnosis.
  • Coordinating appointments.
  • Providing guidance and support through the breast imaging process.
  • Facilitating communication to the physician and surgeon to quickly coordinate biopsy procedures.
  • Educating patients and the community about complete breast care.


Breast Cancer Nurse Navigator
Our Breast Cancer Nurse Navigator is a registered nurse and a certified oncology nurse. After breast cancer diagnosis, she assists with:

  • Coordinating appointments with your team of doctors.
  • Communicating your needs with your team of doctors.
  • Answering questions about test results, side effects and treatment options.
  • Providing individualized education.
  • Guiding you to medical and community resources, such as support groups.
  • Educating patients and the community about complete breast care.


GI Cancer Nurse Navigator
Our Gastrointestinal Cancer Nurse Navigator is a registered nurse who works with Digestive Health Institute and Oncology providers and has expert knowledge in gastrointestinal cancers. Following your diagnosis with a precancerous or cancerous lesion, she will coordinate appointments for further testing and schedule an appointment for the multidisciplinary cancer clinic, if needed. Our nurse navigator assists with scheduling appointments, facilitating communication with your doctors, and providing guidance and support throughout your treatment for gastrointestinal cancer.

What to expect:
  • First, you will communicate with your nurse navigator and learn about the resources available to you at the Digestive Health Institute and Carle Cancer Center.
  • Next, you will consult with your multidisciplinary care team doctors one by one. You may also meet one or two of their nurses, if needed.
  • Lastly, you will be scheduled the same day or a different day to meet with additional care providers such as a dietitian, social worker and others based on your particular needs.
  • Your nurse navigator will be with you every step of the way, providing guidance and support.


IBD Nurse Navigator
Our Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) Nurse Navigator is a registered nurse who works closely with the IBD care team and provides clinical expertise and program management for you under a modified medical home. She leverages resources and collaborates with multiple departments to assist you with health maintenance and proactively managing your condition with the ultimate goal of remission. Ongoing support is provided through the facilitation of the IBD support group, registry management and multidisciplinary conference to assist patients with management of this chronic condition.


Heart and Vascular Nurse Navigator
Our Heart and Vascular Nurse Navigator is a registered nurse with specialized knowledge of cardiovascular conditions. She checks in with you and identifies low- and high-risk situations and addresses potential barriers or other health concerns.
