Carle Health recognized as a leading place to work in healthcare
Carle Health is being recognized as one of the leading places to work in healthcare in the country from three major, national organizations. Great Place to Work ®, Becker’s Healthcare and Fortune recently recognized the Urbana-based healthcare system for leading the industry in creating an environment where team members thrive and patient outcomes improve.

This is the fifth year Carle Health is designated among the elite group of healthcare organizations included as a Great Place to Work, which is the recognized authority on high-trust, high-performance workplace cultures. Becker’s 150 Top Places to Work in Healthcare, 2022 list, celebrates healthcare companies that promote diversity within the workforce, employee engagement and professional growth. Fortune’s Best Large Workplaces in Health Care offers insight into the leading healthcare systems focused on growing team member engagement and meeting high-quality standards in every way.

“I am so proud of the Carle Health team. Not only for their strength, compassion and dedication to those we serve throughout this unique circumstance, but for their continued commitment to each other to build the type of culture where people can feel safe and really shine,” Lauren Schmid, executive vice president and chief human resources officer said. “Our ability to support the team members who give care and service to patients and members is foundational to meeting our mission on a daily basis.”

The ongoing industry trend of a declining interest in healthcare-related professions has made the market more challenging than ever to continue to bring the expert-level of care the region requires. To encourage long-term retention and instill a supportive environment, Carle focuses on offering comprehensive benefits, clear growth opportunities, a robust professional development curriculum and a continued emphasis on improving diversity, equity and inclusion across the system.

“At Carle we’re focused on excellence in everything we do, so it’s critical to create an environment where team members in any role can be their authentic selves and do their best work,” Schmid said. “Receiving this type of recognition is always humbling but helps us know we’re on the right track to continue to provide the type of healthcare support this region deserves.”

Leaders use the anonymous feedback that is part of the submission process to get a better understanding of what areas are strong and where there are opportunities. The organization uses this data to improve the systems and programs that create the Carle Health culture.
