Carle Health and Christie Clinic partner to create the Champaign Endoscopy Center

Carle Health and Christie Clinic partner to create the Champaign Endoscopy Center
Sept. 2, 2026, marked the opening of the new Champaign Endoscopy Center, a modern procedural space with a dedicated clinical team for performing endoscopic procedures. The center, located at 1702 S. Mattis Ave. in Champaign, was celebrated with an open house event attended by representatives from Carle Health, Christie Clinic and the Champaign-Urbana community for an inside look at the new location.

In the United States, there has been a significant rise in colon cancer diagnoses in young adults. According to the American Cancer Society, colon cancer is the leading cause of cancer-related deaths for men under 50. In women, colon cancer is second only to breast cancer in causing cancer-related deaths.

“We continue to see those trends reflected in the services we provide here in the Champaign-Urbana community, and for those who may be traveling here for care,” Kerry Fox, MBA, vice president, Clinical Operations, Carle Health, said.

“The Champaign Endoscopy Center is an expansion of the partnership between Carle Health and Christie Clinic to address the growing demand for digestive health services in the region,” Matt Strack, director, Carle Physician Group, Digestive Health Institute, Carle Health, said. “By increasing procedural capacity, we can expand patient access to essential digestive health services, including upper endoscopy and colonoscopy procedures, providing greater convenience and timely care for our community. Increased access to colonoscopy is especially important, as it remains the gold standard for colorectal cancer screening, offering the opportunity to detect cancer early and prevent it through the removal of precancerous polyps.”

Colonoscopies remain the gold standard for colorectal cancer screening and prevention, and the center will provide specialized care in a convenient setting to increase access for patients.

“As the needs of our patients continue to grow, it's more critical than ever that our patients have access to timely, comprehensive care,” Fox said. “We’re proud to partner with Christie Clinic to open this new space and bring that access to our community.”

“We’re excited to have an additional facility focused on colonoscopy and upper endoscopy services to help support the critical needs of our patients,” said Kathie Beesley, patient care manager, Champaign Endoscopy Center, Carle Health. “The new location will allow for more appointments to improve the experience and health outcomes of those we serve. We’re grateful to our digestive health team and our partners at Christie Clinic whose support ensures our patients receive compassionate, quality care.”

Throughout the Carle Health system, a dedicated team of specialists are ready to care for and support patients with various digestive health conditions from their initial diagnosis through therapy and treatment. With access to evaluations, procedures, lab testing and more close to home, patients can rely on this team for expert, compassionate care.

“We look forward to bringing these services to the community as we take on the healthcare challenges impacting those we care for,” Fox said. “The Champaign Endoscopy Center is one more way Carle Health is supporting better healthcare outcomes for all.”
