Carle Foundation Hospital (CFH) is the only Comprehensive Stroke Center in Central Illinois, featuring a comprehensive system for rapid diagnosis and treatment of stroke patients admitted to the emergency department. Carle BroMenn Medical Center (CBMC) and Carle Health Methodist Hospital (CHMH) are both Primary Stroke Centers and, like CFH, offer an inpatient rehabilitation unit for patients recovering from a stroke, or other illness or injury.
Carle Hoopeston Regional Health Center, Carle Eureka Hospital, Carle Richland Memorial Hospital, Carle Health Proctor Hospital and Carle Health Pekin Hospital are Acute Stroke Ready Hospitals. Teams at each location are ready to begin stroke care and transfer patients to a higher level of care as needed.
Several of these facilities have earned American Heart Association/American Stroke Association Get With The Guidelines® (GWTG) designations for ensuring stroke patients receive the most appropriate treatment according to nationally recognized, research-based guidelines. Consistent adherence to these guidelines can minimize the long-term effects of a stroke and may prevent death.
The Carle Health adherence to GWTG means strict quality achievement measures were met in the diagnosis and treatment of stroke. This includes proper medication and treatment, reducing mortality rates, quick recovery and limiting disability because of stroke.

This year, Carle Foundation Hospital is receiving the Get With The Guidelines® - Stroke Gold Plus Target: Stroke Elite Plus Honor Roll. At CFH, 75 percent of applicable patients experience door-to-needle times of 45 minutes or less, and 50 percent of applicable patients experience door-to-needle times of 30 minutes or less.

Carle Health Methodist Hospital is receiving the Get With The Guidelines® - Stroke Gold Plus Award with Target: Stroke Honor Roll. CHMH met specific criteria that reduces the time between an eligible patient’s arrival at the hospital and treatment.
Carle Health Methodist, Carle Foundation Hospital and Carle BroMenn Medical Center are also being recognized with the Target: Type 2 Diabetes Honor Roll award. This means ensuring patients with Type 2 diabetes, who may be at higher risk of complications, receive the most up-to-date, evidence-based care when hospitalized for stroke.
For the first time, Carle Health Proctor and Pekin Hospitals are both receiving the Get With The Guidelines® – Stroke Silver Plus Award, with Target: Type 2 Diabetes Honor Roll.
Carle Eureka Hospital is receiving a GWTG-Stroke Rural Health Silver recognition, the highest recognition that a hospital can receive in its second year.
