Convenient lab scheduling launches at select Carle locations

Convenient lab scheduling launches at select Carle locations
Carle patients now have an easier way to get necessary lab work done.

Starting Thursday, Oct. 8 Carle patients at select Primary Care locations have the option to schedule
their lab appointments ahead of time. Patients can call ahead or conveniently schedule online through
their MyCarle account. The move comes in the wake of COVID-19 guidelines and the continued
commitment to keep patients safe and socially distanced.

“The ongoing COVID-19 pandemic has really expedited this change of practice,” Heather Masters,
manager of Phlebotomy and Point-of-care Testing said. “Our goal is to keep patients safe when waiting
rooms may not allow for proper social distancing. This is a great, necessary change with our patient’s
best interest at heart.”

Carle locations throughout east-central Illinois will begin to utilize “schedule ahead” lab work after
successful piloting at Carle Mattoon on Hurst and Carle Tuscola this summer. Laboratories set to launch
appointment scheduling include:
  • Carle Champaign on Curtis
  • Carle Heart and Vascular Institute
  • Carle Mahomet
  • Carle Rantoul
  • Carle Urbana on Windsor
  • Carle Urbana South Clinic
There are three convenient ways to schedule lab appointments ahead of arrival. Patients can self-
schedule securely online through their MyCarle account, schedule with their primary or specialty care
provider as part of the check out process, or call the Carle Scheduling Center at (217) 383-3200.

Patients with scheduled appointments can check in with a team member at the front desk at each
location or utilize one of the self-serve kiosks. While patients are encouraged to schedule their lab work
ahead of time, a number of walk in appointments will still be available to those who need them.

If no walk-in appointments are currently available, patients are encouraged to check in with the front
desk to find out if there is availability later in the day or to utilize MyCarle or the Scheduling Center to
make an appointment for a later date.

“While prompt service and care is always our priority, scheduling your appointment ahead of time
ensures we are able to keep wait times low and keep people moving with their busy day,” Masters said.

“We hope that this new process will make the lab experience even more convenient and efficient for
our patients.”
