Team approach to your care

The clinic brings together the specialists you need, all in one location. Patients with colon cancer are seen by a surgeon and medical oncologist (a doctor who specializes in treating cancer with chemotherapy). Those with rectal and anal cancers are seen by a surgeon, medical oncologist and radiation oncologist (a doctor who specializes in treating cancer with radiation therapy). Prior to the clinic, a tumor board of medical experts looks over your case to guide your team of doctors on how to treat your cancer.

If you think our Colorectal Cancer Multidisciplinary Clinic is right for you, ask your doctor to make a referral to one of our surgeons below. Once the surgery office has received the referral, a Carle Cancer Institute Normal team member will contact you quickly regarding scheduling your visit with your entire care team. After the tumor board discussion on Friday morning and your visit at the multidisciplinary clinic on Friday afternoon, the following business day (Monday), our colorectal cancer navigator will provide your referring doctor with a plan of care customized for your cancer type and stage.
