The personalized plan may include:

  • Additional screening and/or imaging

  • Breast exams by a healthcare provider
  • Coaching for lifestyle changes
  • Preventive surgeries to reduce risk

If you qualify, a nurse practitioner will advise you and help you through preventive steps and early interventions to reduce the chance of needing treatments that are more aggressive.

You may qualify for the High-Risk Breast Clinic if you have:

  • Family history of breast or ovarian cancer.
  • Known genetic mutations that raise the risk of breast cancer.
  • Tissue-based (breast biopsy) findings, including:
    • Atypical ductal hyperplasia.
    • Atypical lobular hyperplasia.
    • Lobular carcinoma in situ.
  • Male breast cancer.
  • Fibrocystic breast disease.

Ask your primary care provider, obstetrician or gynecologist if your family history of breast cancer qualifies you for high-risk assessment and services. Or call the High-Risk Breast Clinic for more information at (217) 383-3010 to learn more.
