Overall Score

Carle is continually working to provide the best care possible. Team members actively review outcome data and work collaboratively with key stakeholders to identify areas of improvement in workflows, reducing gaps in care, and ensuring consistency in care with the focus of providing the highest quality and safest level of care to our patients.

Overall Hospital Compare Star Rating: This rating is calculated using measures from five different groups of measures: Mortality, Safety of Care, Readmissions, Patient Experience and Timely and Effective Care. Star ratings are categorized as one to five whole stars. A greater number of stars indicates better performance.

HCAHPS Hospital Compare Star Rating: The rating is calculated using Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (HCAHPS) Survey responses from 10 categories: Communication with Nurses, Communication with Doctors, Responsiveness of Hospital Staff, Communication about Medications, Cleanliness, Quietness, Discharge Information, Care Transition, Overall Hospital Rating and Willingness to Recommend.

Brain and Stroke

Carle BroMenn Medical Center has been designated as a Primary Stroke Center since 2007, demonstrating an ongoing commitment to ensuring fast treatment and improving outcomes for patients having a stroke. We strive to intervene as early as possible for patients with stroke symptoms, and we continue to provide quality care to patients after a stroke with the goal of optimizing recovery.

In addition to designation as a Primary Stroke Center, Carle BroMenn has achieved the Stroke Gold Plus Quality Achievement Award from the American Heart Association (AHA) and American Stroke Association (ASA) for 12 years in a row.

The DNV Primary Stroke Center Certification is based on standards set forth by the Brain Attack Coalition 
and the American Stroke Association, and affirms that the medical center addresses the full spectrum of stroke care – diagnosis, treatment, rehabilitation and education – and establishes clear metrics to evaluate outcomes.

Listed in the 2023 U.S. News and World Report “Best Hospitals” guidebook, as reported by the American College of Cardiology, our team is dedicated to keeping your heart healthy.

Emergency Care

When emergencies happen, you need timely, effective treatment. Our board certified physicians and advanced practice providers are available to quickly diagnose and treat your condition. Carle BroMenn Medical Center is a Level II Trauma Center, a designated Emergency Department Approved for Pediatrics (EDAP), and offers specialized care for patients with psychiatric needs and victims of sexual assault. In 2020, Carle BroMenn became only the third hospital in Illinois to achieve Geriatric Emergency Department Accreditation from the American College of Emergency Physicians.

Additionally, the Emergency staff provides care that supports the hospital’s accreditations as a Chest Pain Center and Primary Stroke Center, ensuring patients suffering cardiac and neurologic emergencies receive evidence-based, high-quality care.

Home Care

With close monitoring and patient and family education, many treatments that once kept patients in the hospital now happen safely at home. Carle Home Care serves 31 counties in central, east and southeast central Illinois with a staff dedicated to achieving the best outcomes for patients.

Inpatient Rehabilitation

Patient Experience

Our mission is to be your trusted partner in all healthcare decisions, and we strive to make sure you feel well cared for while receiving our services. The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services collects data through a national, standardized survey. This survey is provided to a random sample of our patients recently discharged from the hospital. We use patient feedback through these and other surveys to make improvements to our processes and communication to serve you better.
