Job Description

JOB SUMMARY:
Implements plan of care as provided by the physical therapist, treating patients of all ages. Serves as a role model in delivery of professional services and as a clinical resource for staff and students.

CERTIFICATION & LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS
Physical Therapy Asst (PTA) License Illinois or Board Eligible upon hire and

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE
Knowledge of physical therapy principles and applications. Computer competency and EMR experience. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, colleagues, staff, and referrers. Organization and prioritizing skills with the ability to quickly refocus on a variety of tasks. Solid written and oral communication skills. Ability to recognize and respond to urgent/emergency situations. Ability to use discretion and maintain confidentiality. Effective team player. Flexible hours as required for outpatient therapy environment. Understands coding and billing for services rendered.



ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Provides physical therapy treatments according to the physical therapist's treatment plan and patient presentation.
  • Communicates with supervising therapist and staff regarding patient progress, problems or plans.
  • Produces documentation in accordance with department/practice guidelines.
  • Meets department standards for customer service and productivity.
  • Communicates with other medical providers/team members.
  • Uses support personnel according to legal standards and ethical guidelines. Monitors care delivered by support personnel and provides regular feedback.
  • Actively participates in team, program, department assignments and meetings.
  • Acts as a clinical instructor when assigned.
  • Performs reporting and other duties as assigned to team leads/department manager/supervisor.
