Exploring the potential use of bile acids and Farnesoid X Receptor as predictive biomarkers and therapeutic targets for immunotherapy

The purpose of this research study is to detect cancer biomarkers in blood that can predict response to cancer treatments. A biomarker is a biological molecule found in blood, other body fluids, or tissues that can serve as an indicator of the likelihood of response to treatment. The biomarker that we will look at in the study is called bile acid. If you decide to participate, you will be asked to provide 15ml (about 3 teaspoons) of blood. The blood collections will be performed during your scheduled clinical lab draw, and will take only an additional 1-2 minutes of your time. If you had surgery before to take out your tumor, we would like to get a little sample of that tumor tissue that has been stored away. Finally, we are also asking for your permission for relevant information from your medical record to be used for research purposes.
