Welcome, Greater Peoria area patients!

On April 1st, Methodist Hospital, Proctor Hospital, Pekin Hospital and area clinics officially joined Carle Health. Together, we look forward to expanding to meet the healthcare needs of patients like you across our region. We wanted to take this opportunity to share more about our partnership and what it means for you.

Below please find answers to frequently asked questions.
  • What is happening?

It’s official. Closing agreements have been signed between Carle Health, Unity Point Health and UnityPoint Health – Central Illinois to integrate Methodist Medical Center of Illinois, Proctor and Pekin hospitals and clinics, Methodist College and other-related healthcare services into the Carle Health system.

Community members in the Greater Peoria area will enjoy a broader continuum of healthcare, strengthening the well-being of families across the area.

Carle Health is committed to bringing expanded services, added specialty care, increased access to lifesaving technologies and more as the community comes fully integrated into the healthcare system over time.

  • What prompted this change?

By bringing the two organizations together we will extend and enhance patient-centered healthcare in central Illinois. From the beginning, our focus has been on care delivery and expansion of care delivery to those that need it.

  • What changes can the community expect?

We look forward to partnering with Greater Peoria and its surrounding communities to invest in local communities – increasing access to exceptional care, technology and resources – and extending care well beyond our hospital walls.

  • Are my local hospitals changing their names?

With this final milestone complete, the three regional hospitals will be known as:

    • Carle Health Methodist Hospital
    • Carle Health Proctor Hospital
    • Carle Health Pekin Hospital
  • What does this mean for me? Can I still see my provider?

This announcement comes with no current changes to your providers or to how you access care. You will still be able to access the same excellent healthcare you receive today from the providers you know and trust.

An added bonus is that now every step in the healthcare journey is supported through Carle Health’s vertically integrated healthcare system, offering care close to home, better connectivity between the healthcare providers you see and the offices you visit, and greater access to specialty care options right here in central Illinois.

  • Who has my medical records?
Nothing is changing right now, including medical records. Since both organizations use the same electronic health record platform, we hope to make the transition to Carle Health as seamless as possible for patients. Over the next several months, internal teams will work to transition those records to be maintained solely by Carle Health. Medical records may be obtained by calling Health Information Services at (309) 691-1047.
  • Is there a change to MyUnityPoint (MyChart) – the patient portal?

You can continue to use the MyUnityPoint (MyChart) patient portal while work is underway to transition patients to the Carle Health platform called MyCarle.

MyCarle, like MyChart, helps patients better manage their family’s health records, schedule appointments and stay informed about their care.

  • I have an appointment or procedure scheduled. Will this change?
All scheduled appointments and procedures continue as planned. Nothing is changing today and if anything changes about a future appointment you have scheduled, your provider will contact you directly.
  • Does expansion into the Greater Peoria community mean patients will need to travel to Carle Foundation Hospital for healthcare?

Our intent is to focus on supporting localized care that keeps patients and needed services conveniently close to home. Our goal is to provide the highest level of care in each community where we offer healthcare services.

  • How will this impact my insurance?
There is no impact on your insurance coverage. The work advances with due diligence and commitment to continue offering the best care possible for all patients and community members.
  • How will this impact my bill?

Nothing will change regarding the process of paying your bill.

Carle is working with its vendors to update all websites and URLs. In the meantime, please rest assured that any communications or payments made via the website or URL listed on your bill will be received by the appropriate entity. If you have questions regarding your bill and/or insurance coverage, contact Patient Accounts at (844) 849-1260.

  • What sets Carle Health apart from other healthcare systems?

Carle Health is a vertically integrated health system that provides many benefits to our patients. We can bring together resources, technologies, innovations, knowledge and experience from the many different parts of our broad organization – sharing expertise and efficiencies – all to better serve our patients. This interconnectivity helps us move to a truly patient-centered approach that focuses on serving people’s health across all their encounters with the healthcare system. We’re there at every step of the journey, not only providing care when needed, but also helping people stay healthy and avoid future hospital stays. Ready to learn more? Visit Carle.org.
