State ‘Special Enrollment Period’ Open October 10-28

The State’s contracts for health insurance were extended through June 30, 2012 (the end of the State’s fiscal year). Therefore, the State is holding a Special Enrollment Period limited to health insurance plans only from Oct. 10 through Oct. 28, with changes becoming effective Dec 1, 2011. During this time, state employees, retirees and dependents will be able to switch plans if desired. Members who change health plans will be required to satisfy all health plan and prescription deductibles associated with the new health plan, even if they had already satisfied the deductible under the previous health plan. State members cannot add or drop dependents, opt in or out of health insurance coverage or add or drop dental coverage during this Special Enrollment Period. Active State employees cannot enroll in MCAP, revoke or change their MCAP election. Details of the open enrollment period are available on the State of Illinois Central Management Services web site. Those who wish to keep or switch to a health plan that ensures continued access to Carle services, may consider Health Alliance plans. See the State of Illinois Central Management Services web site for details and instructions.
