Requirements For Testing
To make your visit as seamless as possible, please check over the list below to verify that you meet our requirements.
Do I need to fast before my appointment?
This depends on the testing that you are having done. It is best to consult with your provider if you should be fasting before having your blood drawn. When fasting, please do not eat or drink anything other than water for 8 to 12 hours before your appointment. We strongly discourage drinking black coffee, and do not exceed 12 hours of fasting, as this can negatively impact test results.
How long will it take?
Our goal is to make your visit with us as seamless and quick as possible. Since we are a walk-in collection site, visit times can vary depending on how many people are ahead of you. Other factors such as the type of test your provider has ordered or if we have all of the proper documents needed for testing impact the length of your visit.
What types of payment do you accept?
We only accept Cash or Check. To keep overhead low and to provide you with the best pricing as possible, we do not accept credit cards or debit cards.
How do I schedule an appointment?
We do not schedule appointments. Our facility is a Walk-In collection site. We see each patient in the order that they arrive.
What should I expect when I arrive at Harman Lab?
Due to COVID-19, please see below for additional requirements when visiting our office. When you arrive at Harmon lab, we ask that you sign in. We will take patients back to our collection room in the order they arrive. Our waiting area is shared with another provider's office, so we ask that only the patient come to our facility. If a caretaker is necessary, only one per person is allowed and they may be asked to wait outside of the collection room during collection.
Please either have your provider's signed order with you or have them fax it to us in advance. If we do not have a copy of your order, you may be asked to wait in the waiting area until we receive it or to come back another day for testing.
Depending on the testing being ordered, our phlebotomist could ask for blood, urine, or stool specimens. We cannot collect any swab testing.
Be prepared for Cash or Check payment at the time of collection. We do not accept Credit Cards or Debit Cards.
Upon completion, you will receive an invoice for the services performed that day.
How are you handling COVID-19?
If you are or have been sick or have a Fever, Cough, Sore throat, or shortness of breath, Please DO NOT visit our facility until your symptoms have been clear for 72 hours without fever reducing medications.
Only the patient with orders will be allowed inside of our facility. Please no spouses or children! If a caretaker is needed, only 1 additional care-person can accompany the patient. This person will not be allowed in the collection room.
The Waiting Area is restricted to 3 people at a time. If there are more than 3 people in the waiting room, sign-in on the clipboard and list your cell phone number, return to your vehicle while waiting. Harmon Lab Staff will call you when it is your turn to be seen.
We understand the importance of the services that we offer and the impact we have on the community. Please help us ensure the safety of our patients and staff by abiding by the guidelines above.
Please note: We do not offer COVID-19 testing.
I don't have insurance? Can I still get my labs collected?
Yes, this is why Harmon Labs is here! We provide those without insurance or those with high out of pocket insurance with a low-cost option for laboratory testing. In fact, we do not bill insurance at all.
How much will my lab work cost?
The cost of your lab work may vary depending on the type of test being performed and our costs for that test. Harmon Laboratory operates efficiently with low overhead costs and our mission is to pass those savings along to you. If you are interested in an estimate, ask your provider to fax us your order at 309-999-5721 so we can provide an accurate estimate to you.
I want to get some lab testing done, can I just come in?
Yes and No –Illinois State law requires that a valid physician order is presented before we can collect any blood or urine. If you have a valid physician order, come on in and we will take care of you.
What happens if I do not have a lab order from a provider?
Unfortunately, we will not be able to collect or perform any testing until you have a provider's order.
My doctor gave me a kit test to have collected and then mail to another laboratory, can you Draw my blood and process these?
Currently, we do not accept testing kits from other laboratories, or mail-in services. While we may explore these services in the future, we are currently unable to process external kits.
Do you collect blood and urine for Immigration status?
Yes. If you have an order from a provider, we can collect these types of specimens. Results will then be sent to the ordering provider to complete any other paperwork/information as needed. Due to the complexity and time these tests take to complete, please allow 7-10 days for test results.
Do I need to stop taking my medication before having my blood drawn?
Please consult with your provider before discontinuing any medications.
Do you collect specimens that require swabbing?
No. We only collect blood, urine, or stool specimens for testing.
How do I get a copy of my results?
A copy of your results will automatically be sent to the ordering provider at the fax number listed on the order once they are complete. If you wish to obtain a copy of your results, you may bring a self-addressed stamped envelope with you to your appointment and we will mail them once they are complete. Please note, delivery of your results may be 7-10 business days from the date that all requested testing is completed.
When will my results be complete?
Completion times of testing depends on the testing that is requested. While most standard tests are completed within 24-48 hours, some testing may take longer to complete, or they may be batched and performed on certain days of the week. We recommend having your labs collected about a week before your doctor's appointment if you wish to go over the results at your visit. Please note: Immigration testing for patients could take 7-10 days to complete due to the complexity of the tests.
Will my provider be notified of my results?
Yes. The ordering provider will receive a copy of your results by fax or through an electronic record system if your provider is registered with Harmon Lab.
