The Suspicion of Cancer Clinic at Carle Health Methodist Atrium Medical Office Center expedites the screening for people with abnormal test results so they can start treatment more quickly. Our team reduces the time from a mass being found to diagnosis and treatment - detecting cancer in the earliest stage possible to provide the most effective treatment.
Conditions that may indicate potential referral to the clinic:
Greater than 0.8 cm lung mass.
Esophageal mass.
Kidney mass.
Liver mass.
Pancreatic mass.
Bone lesion.
General adenopathy or other solid mass.
Weight loss of greater than 10 pounds in six months when not trying to lose weight.
Not all patients who visit our clinic are diagnosed with cancer. If cancer is found, our team completes the staging of the disease and refers the patient to surgeons, oncologists and other specialists need to establish a treatment plan.
Patients diagnosed with cancer will meet with a nurse navigator to review the diagnosis, answer questions and assist with getting care coordinated. Patients that have negative (benign) findings will be referred to the appropriate clinics for recommended follow up care and monitoring.
