Carle Health Home Health in Greater Peoria recognized as Superior Performer
Carle Health Home Health in the Greater Peoria Region has been recognized as a Superior Performer for overall patient satisfaction.

The award comes from Strategic Healthcare Programs (SHP) and means that Home Health in the Greater Peoria Region has achieved patient satisfaction scores that ranked in the top 20% of eligible SHP clients for 2022.

Carle Health Home Health in the Greater Peoria Region is part of Greater Peoria Region Home Health and Hospice, also known as Methodist Medical Center Home Health and Hospice. SHP is a leader in data analytics and benchmarking.

Home Health in Greater Peoria was among nine home health agencies in Illinois – and the only one in the Greater Peoria region -- to be recognized for high patient satisfaction scores for 2022. SHP uses data from the Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (CAHPS®) Home Health Care Survey (HHCAHPS).

“Congratulations to the Carle Home Health team in our West Region for achieving the SHPBest™ - Superior Performer 2022 award,” Bonny Kohr, BSN, executive director, Carle Home Health and Hospice, said. “The Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems Home Health Care Survey is a national study conducted by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) to help them evaluate the care that is provided by agencies. Receiving this recognition is just one of the many ways that demonstrates the Home Health team’s commitment to providing excellent patient care.”

HHCAHPS is designed to measure the experiences of people receiving home healthcare from Medicare-certified home health agencies. The survey asks patients about communication with the home health agency, medication management, overall rating of the agency and willingness to recommend the agency.

The annual SHPBest award program was created to acknowledge home health agencies that provide high-quality service to patients. The 2022 award recipients were determined by reviewing and ranking the overall satisfaction score for more than 3,200 home health providers.

Tammie Roesler is the director for the Carle Health Greater Peoria Region Home Health and Hospice.

“We are thrilled and very proud of our team,” Roesler said. “Home Health leadership knew our patient experience numbers for 2022 were higher than we had achieved before but didn’t realize where that ranked us nationally compared to other agencies until we received notice from SHP. I am so pleased to have this opportunity to recognize such a dedicated and hardworking team for their commitment to patient care.”

“Receiving the award validates the work our team does to engage patients, families and caregivers on a daily basis,” Roesler said. “It takes everyone on our team participating and understanding patient experience to achieve these scores whether you are delivering direct patient care, answering the phone or making sure bills are accurate and timely. Patients routinely share how much they appreciate the care they receive, naming staff on surveys who helped them return to their former level of independence or learn to manage a new diagnosis. Developing staff understanding of how to deliver a positive patient experience benefits patients at all levels of care and improves patient outcomes.”
