Chest pain may be a sign of a heart attack. Rapid treatment increases chance of survival; treatment is most effective when it is begun within an hour of initial symptoms. If you or someone you know may be having a heart attack, dial 9-1-1 for immediate assistance.

Watch for the signs
Most common in men:- Discomfort or tingling in arms, back, neck, shoulder or jaw
- Chest pain
- Shortness of breath
- Sudden dizziness
- Nausea or vomiting
- Heartburn-like feeling
- Cold sweat
- Unusual tiredness
- Family history of cardiovascular disease
- High blood pressure
- High cholesterol
- Overweight or obese
- Sedentary lifestyle
- Tobacco use
- Diabetes
- Excessive alcohol use
- Poor diet
Preventive Steps
- See your doctor regularly
- Learn the signs & symptoms of heart attack
- Don’t smoke
- Maintain a healthy weight
- Eat a healthy diet
- Exercise regularly
- Treat other health conditions especially high blood pressure, high cholesterol and diabetes
