Inpatient Virtual Health
As a Level 1 Trauma Center and Level III Perinatal Service Center, Carle Foundation Hospital often treats you during your most delicate health emergencies. Our Intensive Care and Neonatal Intensive Care Units provide lifesaving, round-the-clock care you need in order to live.
But we can’t always be by your bedside. With virtual health,we can safely monitor you from anywhere in the hospital. So even when we are on the phone, we still have an eye on you.
Outpatient Virtual Health
At many of our locations, we have the ability to connect you with any specialist via our state-of-the-art audio and video technology and equipment for remotely examining the patient. Our providers help perform all the typical assessments – examining eyes, ears and lungs, as well as listening to hearts – with the assistance of a local medical assistant or registered nurse and some very specialized telemedicine medical devices.
We currently offer virtual health services in several different specialty areas, and we are constantly evaluating other specialties to add to this list. Services include:
- Behavioral health
- Developmental pediatrics
- Maternal fetal medicine
- Neonatal intensive care
- Sleep studies
Virtual visits are another way we make sure you can always get the care you need, wherever you are. Connect with a Carle provider in minutes through the desktop site or your mobile device 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.
Virtual visits are available to everyone, not just Carle patients. You can pay a one-time fee for the diagnosis and treatment of your illness or utilize your insurance coverage. Virtual visits offer treatment for common illnesses such as:
- Allergies and asthma
- Ear aches
- Fever and vomiting
- Pink eye
- Rash and insect bites
- Sore throats
- Urinary tract infections
Chronic Disease Management
We know that managing your chronic diseases is best done using a team-approach where a team of clinicians, led by your physician, check on you frequently, as well as monitor your blood work and other signs to support your care plan. In these situations, virtual health can support the monitoring of your health from a distance and allow your care team to guide you from a distance. In certain cases, they can also educate you to take care of your health from a distance when clinically appropriate and safe.
