Pinnacle Award winners ensure world-class experiences for patients
Helping a pain clinic to get up and running, optimizing infection control, resolving patient claims, and focusing on positive patient, visitor and team member experiences are examples of the world-class care that Carle Health team members provide each day.

Carle Health honors team members who provide top-tier experiences for patients and uphold the organization’s values with its annual Pinnacle Award of Excellence.

The Pinnacle Award of Excellence is the Carle Health program that, each summer, recognizes team members who ensure patients have a world-class experience every time they interact with the organization.

“The Pinnacle Award honors team members who demonstrate excellence every day, ensuring that Carle Health remains the trusted healthcare partner to all we serve,” Theresa Green, MSN, Carle Experience executive director, said. Each winner is nominated by a peer or leader and then selected by the Reward and Recognition Committee because they demonstrate excellence in their daily work, serve as outstanding mentors to their peers, commit to learning through professional development, engage with their teams to offer solutions, and demonstrate Carle Health Values.

During the annual awards ceremony on June 23, Carle Health honored five team members from throughout the system with a Pinnacle Award of Excellence.

The 2025 Carle Health Pinnacle Award of Excellence winners are:

  • Rachel Peterson, business services representative, Interventional Pain Clinic, Carle Richland Memorial Hospital.
  • Dana Schuerman, CPC, CPB, Epic Principal Trainer, Revenue Cycle Systems & Training, Carle BroMenn Medical Center.
  • Rachel Stomberg, MSM, director of operations, Carle Health Methodist Medical Group.
  • Kristina White, PharmD, clinical pharmacy specialist, Carle Health Greater Peoria Area.
  • Dondie Williams, customer service liaison, Carle Outpatient Services at The Fields.
The 2025 honorees impact Carle Health patients, team members and communities in countless ways. Below is an overview from each submission that shares just some of their contributions to the healthcare system:

Rachel Peterson has never turned down an ask just because it isn’t her job. She created processes to help get a pain clinic up and running, finds solutions to accommodate patients who arrive late at appointments and helps teammates with daily workflow questions, all with a smile.

Dana Schuerman is an astute educator, fearless student and dedicated developer of curricula on Epic, the Carle Health unified health record system, for team members in various departments. She also is working on a training manual that should make processing claims faster to improve patient experience.

Rachel Stomberg is director of operations for Carle Health Methodist Medical Group Urology, Obstetrics & Gynecology, Obstetrics Hospitalists, Perinatology General Surgery & Bariatrics, Podiatry and Sports Medicine. She invests in all seven service lines and its people, including encouraging the growth of Sports Medicine.

Kristina White is the “pillar” of the antimicrobial stewardship program in the Carle Health Greater Peoria Service Area. She plays a pivotal role in the microbiology and infection control department, trains new pharmacists and picks up weekend shifts to help co-workers and benefit patients.

Dondie Williams is the welcoming presence at Carle Outpatient Services at The Fields. She brings a calming spirit when assisting patients getting in and out of their cars, helping patients check in at kiosks, directing them to correct departments and sorting mail.
