Carle Occupational Medicine connects employers and employees with a variety of resources to help and keep them healthy.
Drug and Alcohol Screening
Occupational Medicine at Carle Urbana has drug and alcohol screening technicians available on site Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Testing is also available at other Carle locations.
Occupational medicine technicians are on call 24 hours a day, working with emergency department staff to conduct post-accident drug and alcohol testing. Tests with or without THC are available.

Breath alcohol testing is available at these sites.
A medical review officer (MRO) will review all positive drug tests with the patient. Our drug screening meets the Department of Transportation regulations. Non-DOT drug screenings are also available for pre-placement, post-accident, random, reasonable suspicion and follow-up. Carle Urbana offers after-hours testing for post-accident screens through the Emergency Department.
Results from rapid drug screens will be reported to employer representative within two hours of collection. Drug screens that require lab processing will be reported 24-48 hours after collection for negative results. Positive drug screen results will be evaluated by an MRO and may take three to seven business days to complete. Carle will call the employer representative with results and email, fax or mail a copy.
Random Drug and Alcohol Consortium
Carle Occupational Medicine provides random drug and alcohol testing consortiums for your employees. The consortium offers the following benefits:
- Annual membership package fee based on number of employees
- Provides computer generated selection of participants
- Provides multiple testing sites for easy accessibility
- Ensures documents are compliant with the Department of Transportation regulations
- Provides quarterly and annual reports for each individual company and the consortium as a whole
- Keeps records in accordance with government guidelines

Blood and Bodily Fluid Exposure Services
Carle Occupational Medicine has years of experience caring for employees who have had a needle stick injury or other blood or body fluid exposure.
Occupational medicine technicians are on call 24 hours a day and able to offer care for blood and bodily fluid exposure.
- Report incident immediately
- Report to the nearest Carle Occupational Medicine location or call to complete blood and body fluid exposure worksheet by phone
- Obtain baseline blood work
- Obtain baseline blood work on source of exposure
- Determine if exposure is high-risk or low-risk
- Seek treatment
- Obtain generated reports
Coordinated Care Network
Rest assured that the health and treatment of your employees couldn't be in better, more qualified hands. A select group of Carle physicians and providers have been specially trained to understand the needs of business and industry, appropriate work restrictions and return-to-work processes of our employer partners. If an injured employee requres specialty care, they will be referred to members of the Coordinated Care Network.
